2W output, worked W2EAP, VE3RL, VE3NF, VE3CJA, VE3GTD, from basement, using 5/8 antennas on tower, also working OK as a repeater. C.O.R. OK. RVCR OK, Identifier OK. TX OK on low power only.

17 July 71

Rig all complete in new cabinet. All OK, except TX no good on hi-pwr. OK on low with about 5-6 watts out and 3 min Timer cuts off rig.

VE3BEO

28 July 71

All good except 5 min Timer. Working in basement of VE3BEO.
3-2E26 replaced in TX

1 Aug 71

VE3NF and VE3BEO/3 worked OK to Hartington, 15 miles. During the day the 12V transmit relay controls welded closed and the TX ran until it blew the 3A AC fuse.

2 Aug 71

Replaced 12V Relay and 1-2E26

2 Aug 71

5 min Timer not working right.

VE3BEO

3 Aug 71

Repeater worked OK Amherstview VE3BEO/3 to VE3NF and W2EAP - Dexter. Sounds OK

4 Aug 71

VE3BEO/3 12 miles east of Kgtn worked VE3CJA, VE3NF, and at HWY 15/401 worked VE3RL, BLVL, FB sigs both ways. TX on LO as plate voltage (500V) on 2E26 causes excessive plate dissipation ON HI.

VE3BEO

Aug5/71

Following modifications were made by VE3BEO & VE3CLH to protect the 2E26s from avalanching in power current. Situation now is The plate Voltage is 550V on 2E26. The screen Voltage is 180V on Hi position (& 70V on Lo position (switch out of circuit)) Modifications noted on diagrams. (70 ma each Plate) R38 replaced by 8 watt 25K. & switch S1 bypassed HI-LO. left in cct.

VE3CLH

Aug 14/71

5 min Timer only problem left.

VE3BEO

15 Aug 71

5 min Timer Trouble, caused by a surge thru the SCR by the discharge of 250/50 mfd, cleared by putting extra K3 V relay contacts in K6/K7 operate path. Repeater ready to go back to VE3RCS (at last!!)

VE3BEO
VE3MW

16 Aug 71

Cancel above - the 5 min Timer locks up K7 due to 50/25 V capacitor, isolating relay contacts, plus an extra relay to open off the capacitor, or s/c, it are only partially effective, it will be OK for a period & then the surge will cause K7 to lock up to the SEC CCT, and disable TX.

VE3BEO

17 Aug 71

3A Hi Volt AC fuse blew due to Xd 2E26 in final - replaced &OK. placed 5.6K in gate lead to 5 min SCR - both timers seem to be ok

VE3MW

19 Aug 71

Repeater moved back to VE3RCS by Bill Thompson VE3KCF & sons, Bob White VE3AHJ, Leon Brown VE3MW, Bernie Burdsall VE3BEO, Jerry Greif VE3GTD
The rig worked OK, but the receiver needs re-peaking. coverage was poor to Kingston

23 Aug

found short in Receiver ant lead - possibly at ant. Pre-amp & cavity repeaked Receiver now sensitive at .15 mu. - Tx repeaked to 15 W VE3AHJ designed & built a 19' ground ant for temporary use. VE3GTD/M now puts in a 5&9 sig

6 Sep 71

VE3BEO, VE3MW, VE3AHJ spent the afternoon taking off all the RG17 Connectors for the upper ant - splices were put on instead. Repeater now using both Tower Ants for the first time. It is suspected that Kingston coverage may still be poor. Rx really have to be peaked up.

9 Sept 71

VE3MW, VE3BEO found no modulation caused by open switch on T.X. Repaired & OK. Peaked up receiver but found that pre-amp was intermittant. Taken home for VE3MW to repair.

16 Sept 71

Preamp repaired & installed Cavities returned to .3mv input there is a slight amount of desensitation will let repeater run for a week or so before we do anything.

23 Sept 71

retune cavities - replaced 7C5 tubes in doubler circuit - output noise reduced 2025 DCT/Sept 23/71

27 Sept

removed cavities & replaced 1 pilot lamp

30 Sept

1900 DST - replaced cavities & all tubes replaced & good with excitation of driver - will replace latter - grounds installed between all panels

8 Oct 71

replaced 2 6AK5 RF amp tubes in the receiver - appears to be intermittant in receiver - no desensitation apparent - ants interchanged - VE3AHU/M sigs from Amherstview very good - Identifier not working returning to shop for repair
