1975

This is a transcript of the Repeater Maintenance Log for the year 1975.
The only editorial changes made during the transcription is that
I've added VE to the callsigns which in most cases were logged
as 3xxx since at the time only VE3 calls were issued.
Comments in RED added during transcription for clarification

Back on about 9 or 10 PM. Cause unknown?

Low No output - No reading TX Posn 3. Replaced V1. V4. & clear. Soldered TX antenna PL239, Braid not making at times. Output 35 W at 150 M/A. Fan very slow - removed delay relay OK at 1930 hrs.

6PM report from VE3EW of howling repeater. Readjusted T1A and T2 in TX. Seems OK 7 PM. Output 32 W

Tx will stay on sometimes after a QSO. I.D. is OK. Couldnt find any trouble. A little desensitization. Tightened up squelch a little

RX Tubes tested - replaced 1 - 6BH6 1 - 6J6 1 - 6AL5. Repeaked RX

6J6 OSC dead - replaced & OK. TX OK. 32 watts

TX antenna open. - put in temp on & OK to BLVL (defective one showed 30 W up & 2 W back) 1630 hrs

Put regular TX antenna back & OK. SWR perfect. Set TX on freq as xtal oven heater defective. 35 W at 150 M/A.

930 AM OFF AIR. RPTR MOVED BY VE3CJA, VE3CLH, VE3HOK, VE3NB FROM ELROND COLLEGE TO JOHN ORR TOWER, WEST CAMPUS QUEENS UNIVERSITY. ON AIR AT 12 NOON ON 8 June 75. 10W OUTPUT - RX desensitization bad.

Rewired 12AT7 Cathode follower for more gain, seems better now. TX is still 10W output. Some desenzitization still VE3FMF OK with 1 watt!

off air all day - V2 - 7V7. TX. loose connection on base - no glasses so couldn't see it - Fixed temp
1900 loose capacitor near V2. resoldered & OK.

1715 hrs. Low level modulation Int trouble 6AL5 Base - (replaced .02 in case this was the trouble -). Trouble cleared out - This has been on before probably needs new socket.

1400 hrs - low level again - bypassed 6AL5 with .04 from input pin 1 to output pin 5. & OK. Level still not too good - lower than with mike into TX.

Added 2 diodes across socket of 6AL5 seems OK audio now.

Installed cavity in TX & RX + RG17U TX cable. Output TX 12 W

Repeater off air during day due to int trouble V2 tube socket. TX. Bent pins on tube & seems OK now

1900. Repeaked RX with VE3FJJ at Picton. TX OK 12 watts.

11AM TX running intermittently - appeared to be old trouble in TX - V2 socket. RX - dead -, trouble cleared when 6J6 1st OSC removed & replaced.

1030 AM TX off again - No reading POSN 3. Removed V2-7V7 bent the pins a bit & replaced & OK. 12W output.

RX off - 6J6. 1st OSC - not oscillating - (probably due to strom when AC went off). Replaced tube & OK. (POSN 7)

Repeater off air - No Hi volts to TX. 6 1/4 A F1. Blown, Must be in power supply. RX OK

12 NOV 75

TX Power plug & socket badly arced due to water getting into rig from someplace.Water was in bottom of rear door. Replaced TX plug - and scrapped socket & OK. Repeater preamp Replaced 829B & 3E26 Driver Int trouble in T1A in TX OK at 8PM. 13 watts output

Repeater short cycling at times found 829B Final would lose grid drive & plate current would soar after long use. Replaced 829B. 150 m/A 10 watts Room temperature 60oF. Outside 20oF
